NECOCHEA NOSTÁLGICA 🏖️🎬 DANIEL Regresa a Su Antigua ESCUELA, los CINES y bares clásicos en el Centro
In today's video, Daniel continues his tour of Necochea and the places he knew during his childhood. We'll visit the Manuel Estrada National School where he studied, stroll through the movie theaters where they used to watch movies, have lunch at the famous Bar Rex, go to La Grifa to try the famous Necochea alfajores, and say goodbye to Necochea beach. This video is the last of our trip through Necochea with Daniel, but more adventures in Argentina are coming. 🏖️🎬 NOSTALGIC NECOCHEA — A tour of schools, movie theaters, classic bars, and the best Argentine beach 🎬🏖️ 🌊 Nostalgia and Memories in Necochea | Journey to the Past and Family Reflections 🔔 Return to the Past: School and Codes of Honor We begin the day by visiting Manuel Estrada School, where our protagonist attended fifth and sixth grade, and part of secondary school. He remembers the uniform, the famous blue blazer he could never have, and the intense cold of winters without heating. School days were short but intense, with three 15-minute breaks and a very strict dress code. The story delves into school life in another era, marked by discipline and customs, such as the haircut ritual or the school bus to the beach. In Dardo Rocha Square, he relives the "duelos" (duels) between classmates: a space where problems were resolved with codes of honor—no group fights or low blows, and glasses were sacred. Teachers even encouraged boxing with gloves to settle disputes. After a fight, the kids often became friends. Values from another era, where dignity and respect ruled. 🍽️ Bars of Yesterday and Today: Unique Sandwiches and Danish Tradition The walk continues at Rex Bar, a Danish classic in the city, famous since the 1930s for its noodle sandwich, a local rarity. We tempted ourselves with raw ham and cheese, noodle salad with mayonnaise, and Milanese with fries. The place maintains its vintage decor, evoking times of splendor and social life in Necochea. 🎬 Movie Theaters and Adventures: Necochea's Hollywood The nostalgic route visits the old movie theaters downtown: Ocean, Atlantic, Gran Sur, and the legendary Paris movie theater. Each one had its special day: Tuesdays for action and adventure, romantic Wednesdays for the girls, and Paris with a small screen and black and white Mexican films. The experience was complete: movies in English with subtitles, which—according to the narrator—fostered generations of fast readers. The marathon screenings lasted until midnight and, despite the winter cold, were worth it. Cinema was the great school of imagination and culture, even more so because the original voices of cowboys and pirates couldn't be conceived dubbed into Spanish. 🥐 Memories and Flavors: Legendary Bakeries and Alfajores The story features "Las Delicias," the childhood bakery, with its shortbread cookies and croissants that the mother carried in her purse for long movie afternoons. There's also the obligatory taste: La Grifa alfajores, both chocolate and meringue, enjoyed with coffee with milk, and compared to the classic Havanna from Mar del Plata. 🏙️ Urban Changes and Nostalgia for Paris Boulevard The walk reflects the pain of losing Necochea's historic boulevard, designed with eucalyptus trees, park benches, and antique streetlights. A boulevard worthy of Paris, now replaced by paved parking lots and the disappearance of cobblestones and plaza life. It recalls how national parades were held there and how that stately European air was breathed, now replaced by indifference and a lack of urban planning vision. 🌅 Sunset and Freedom on the Beach A poetic ending on the beach at sunset, breathing in that salty air that fills your lungs and saying goodbye to the sea, appreciating the freedom and safety of childhood in Necochea, so different from the abrupt leap to adulthood in New York. It recalls how the city had clear rules of morality and coexistence, even for tourists, and how the police reacted to the first bikinis. 🚕 Farewell and Reflection: Necochea, Diamond in the Rough The final scene is at the bus station. It recounts the experience of taking an immaculate taxi driven by a fellow citizen of the same generation, sharing stories and memories of a Necochea that was and could be again. The closing is critical and emotional: Necochea is a diamond in the rough, with wasted potential due to a lack of maintenance and vision. It bids farewell with hope that new authorities will work to restore the city's splendor, and with the promise of returning—time and life permitting—to continue breathing that distinctive sea air.
