6/29/2026 USTA 4.0 men’s playoff (Jason/Musashi v Tanmay/Ed) 6-4, 6-7(0), 10-6

6-4, 6-7(0), 10-6 VAMOS onto playoff round 2 after a hard fought 2 hour(!) match. Gentle breeze throughout the night and the GGP day to dusk golden hour transition presented tricky external factors. A tight match from get go. We broke late in the first set to take it 6-4. We weren’t able to consolidate an early break in the second set and eventually dropped the second set tiebreaker 0-7 (probably the first time in my life getting bageled a tiebreak). As the net player, I got burned down the line multiple times throughout the match, probably the most out of the 4 players on the court) - a combination of adjustments I’ve made over the last few weeks to move earlier/get closer to the net + the opponents’ strength (going dtl). I was fine with getting passed as I was happy with the pressure I was applying at the net. I was determined to be aggressive in the STB (28:00) after getting bageled in the second set tb (bc who wants to get bageled two tiebreaks in a row?). Felt good serving out the match and the following on-court celebrations with the GGP homies. I’ll work to add more power to my overall baseline game and groundstrokes to take over matches like this - I see it as the biggest element missing from my game.
