In this video, we will be unboxing, testing, and reviewing the eneloop pro rechargeable batteries, both the AA & AAA versions. We'll also test a couple of chargers from eneloop. These batteries are praised for their reliability and long battery life, especially in the wedding industry. As a filmmaker, I go through many batteries, so I'm excited to see if these live up to the hype. Why a Filmmaker Needs These I film weddings full-time, which means I burn through a lot of batteries. I use several audio devices throughout the day and prefer to “set em and forget em.” However, I’ve only trusted Energizer and Duracell batteries until now, and even they last just one wedding. I tried Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries, but they didn't last through an entire wedding. I've heard great things about eneloop, so let's unbox these and see how they perform! Tests I ensure these are fully charged first, and put them in my main recorder. It takes 4 batteries and records 3 different inputs in 32-bit float, so it should drain the fastest. I'll run a timer next to it. I'm looking for these devices to last more than 8 hours. If they can do that, they win. I'll do this for both batteries and see how long they take to charge as well. Results All of these devices lasted for 9 hours when I stopped the time lapse. The GoPro did timelapses up to 3 hours, and I ran that 3 times, so it passed my need of lasting at least 8 hours. I used them at the next wedding I shot, and they all lasted the entire time I needed them from a full charge. I couldn’t be more stoked! Pros & Cons Cons: Price is incredibly high. 8 Pack of Amazon Basics AA = $12, 8 Pack of eneloop Pro AA = $47. Chargers only have 4 slots, so it takes longer to charge all the batteries. I might need to test if chargers with more slots charge batteries less effectively. Packaging could be more fun considering the high price. Pros: They last a substantial amount of time, reliable for wedding filmmakers. Seems to charge pretty fast. Charger shows the amount of time it took to recharge with great display options. Conclusion & Recommendation In conclusion, I shoot roughly 20 weddings per year, and I spent just under what it would cost to buy Energizer or Duracell batteries throughout the year on these eneloop batteries. I'm still saving money, and if these last 2-3 years, I'll save even more. I definitely recommend these for heavy use. However, if you just need batteries for gaming controllers, remotes, or toys, these might be overkill. But if you want the best of the best, these are the batteries for you!
