(PSALM 18:28 KJV) EXPLANATION: I greet you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God wants to light a lamp in your life. "For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness." (Psalm 18:28) says the scriptures. This is today's verse of promise. “Lord, light my lamp. Let my darkness become light, Father. Let my life help others and be a blessing.” We can think of David lovingly praying to God in this way. How wonderful it is to pray, “Lord, light my lamp!” When presidents or ministers inaugurate big factories, they light a lamp. The lamp spreads light, and people clap their hands and cheer. The light symbolizes the beginning of a bright future. In the Gospel of Matthew, the first book of the New Testament, we see a star guiding the wise men. At the end of the New Testament, Jesus Christ declares, “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” (Revelation 22:16) He is the One who brings light into all your darkness. Whether you know it or not, many kinds of darkness may be lurking in your life. There is the darkness of ignorance, the darkness of death, the pestilence that walketh in darkness, the darkness of hatred, and the darkness in which those who deny the truth walk. But the Lord will light your lamp in the midst of them. He will enlighten your darkness. The prophet Micah says, “when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” (Micah 7:8) Many people today love darkness more than light. Many sinful activities take place in dark places. Thieves and adulterers love darkness. A person who wants to sin also desires the darkness that hides him and does not want to come to the light of truth. “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:19) Isaiah the prophet says, “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:” (Isaiah 60:2) The days of darkness and the prince of darkness are fast approaching. But what is the promise the Lord has given us? “but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” (Isaiah 60:2, 3) Hallelujah! PRAYER: Supreme Father, I come before You with a heart full of hope and faith in Your divine light. I praise You for being the lamp that guides me through the darkness of sin, poverty, and confusion. Lord, may the brightness of Your presence illuminate every aspect of my life. Remove every shadow and fill me with the presence of Your love and grace. Strengthen me to follow Jesus, who is the light of the world. Let His light shine in my life. I lay my burdens before You. In moments of darkness, intervene and reshape my circumstances. I believe that Your power will overcome all darkness. I pray in Jesus’ name that Your light will guide me in all my new beginnings and give me joy again.
