🇱🇰 Our First Day in Colombo, Sri Lanka!

Our Sri Lanka adventure began in Colombo, the vibrant capital city where busy streets, colourful temples, ocean sunsets and local food create the perfect introduction to the country. 🇱🇰🌊 After landing late at night and learning our first lesson about tuk-tuk prices, we spent the next day exploring Colombo’s temples, landmarks, and waterfront while getting our first taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. 🌟 Some Highlights from Our Colombo Adventure: ✅ Gangaramaya Temple – One of Colombo’s most famous temples. A service was underway so we quietly observed from outside before continuing our walk. ✅ Seema Malaka Temple – A peaceful temple floating on Beira Lake, surrounded by Buddha statues and calm water. ✅ Colombo Lotus Tower – Sri Lanka’s tallest structure offering incredible views across the city, plus a colourful Pixel light show on the way down. ✅ Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque – The iconic red-and-white striped mosque in Pettah, one of the most recognisable buildings in Colombo. ✅ Exploring the City by Tuk Tuk – Squeezing four people into the back of a single tuk tuk while navigating Colombo’s busy streets! ✅ Local Sri Lankan Food – Enjoying traditional curry and rice along Marine Drive and washing it down with local Lion beer. ✅ Sunset at Galle Face Green – Watching the sun drop into the Indian Ocean alongside families, food vendors, kites, snake charmers and even a monkey. ✅ City Views from Trizen Towers – Ending the night overlooking Colombo’s skyline with the Lotus Tower glowing and changing colours.
