He has also been active in research-based writing on history and language. He was born on July 1, 1931, into a farmer's family in Gagaha village, Gorakhpur district. While pursuing his M.A. (Hindi) from Gorakhpur University, he began his writing career with creative poetry, short stories, novels, and criticism. He wrote a series on the "Tradition of the Rigveda" and was associated with "Naye Gyanodaya." Published Works and Major Works: Mahabhisag (1973): This novel is based on the life of Gautam Buddha, not Lord Buddha. Those who made Buddha a god were distracted from the very purpose for which he had conducted his great social experiment, conveying the message that no one is superior to another because of caste or birth, and that anyone who resolves to do so, making it a matter of life and death, can become a Buddha. Mahabhisag not only exposes the human character of this revolutionary visionary by stripping him of the theistic shell; it also attempts to turn Ashwaghosh, the great singer of theism, into a character, and to highlight the limitations of theism. It is also a novel experiment in terms of how a poignant interpretation of history can become a meaningful commentary on the present.
