La médiathèque James Baldwin est ouverte | Paris se transforme 💫 | Ville de Paris

Two new Parisian facilities for a joint project: the James Baldwin Media Library and the Refugee Center. Regular events and discussions are scheduled throughout the year: a unique program designed to foster sharing, mutual understanding, and exchanges between local residents and the center's users. The two facilities are connected by a central building and share common spaces, including gardens and a 6,000 m² plaza. Regarding the renovation, the existing buildings (the former Jean-Quarré High School) were preserved as much as possible, and demolished materials were reused on-site, notably in the landscaping and on other City of Paris projects. A significant emphasis was placed on green spaces and biodiversity, thanks to 6,000 m² of gardens accessible to the public, including community gardens, a planted central plaza, and green roof terraces.
