Ikpa Ibekwe Community: 8 Years Without Electricity

For eight years, residents of Ikpa Ibekwe in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, South-south Nigeria say they have been without electricity supply despite being host community to the Ibom Power Plant. The locals are seeking a lasting solution to their plight as they engage in a series of protests to get the attention of relevant authorities. Gist Nigeria visits the community to find out how residents are managing the situation and what is being done to ensure their exit from darkness.
