Cinema Man - Barry Littlechild

Barry Littlechild is the local Film Historian for Kent and Sussex. Working life started as a projectionist at the old Essoldo cinema in Tunbridge Wells as well as The Ritz & Capitol in Tonbridge. For 31 years he was with the BBC in London and retired as Senior Producer in Light Entertainment and The Film Unit. The Littlechild Archives, that Barry started when he was 8 years of age, has thousands of films at hand for Lectures and Presentations. Barry is best known for finding a rare copy of 'Adventure In The Hopfields' 1953. Filmed around Goudhurst in Kent and starring Mandy Miller, Jane Asher, Melvyn Hayes and Anthony Valentine. Made for the Children's Film Foundation and Saturday Morning Cinema, this print has had over 400 showings for charity around the area of Tunbridge Wells. Recently, after twenty years of searching, Barry has discovered the only remaining copy of 'Our Village' a short film made in Penshurst, Kent in 1949. What makes this film unique is the fact that it features local people, buildings, transport and farms of the time. Barry is available for talks and lectures on films.
