A Reoprt on the 1995 Perth Scottish International Rally. Originally shown on Sports Seen and part of the Acceleration Series. The 1995 Perth Scottish International Rally, based in Perth on 2–4 June, celebrated the event’s 50th anniversary and formed the third round of the Mobil 1/Top Gear British Rally Championship as well as a round of the FIA European Rally Championship. Fast, demanding forest stages across Perthshire and Tayside provided a stern test for both crews and machinery, with many of Britain’s leading drivers facing strong international opposition. (rallyresults.org) Swedish driver Tomas Abrahamsson, co-driven by Mike Kidd in a Ford Escort Cosworth, produced an assured performance throughout the three-day event. Building on his runner-up finish on the Pirelli International Rally earlier in the season, Abrahamsson combined speed with consistency to claim an impressive overall victory. Finnish pair Jarmo Kytolehto and Arto Kapanen finished second in their Vauxhall Astra Sport, while Belgian ace Grégoire de Mévius completed the podium in a Nissan Sunny GTI. The demanding gravel stages claimed a number of leading contenders, allowing Abrahamsson to steadily extend his advantage as the rally progressed. His victory marked one of the biggest successes of his British Rally Championship campaign and demonstrated the pace of the Escort Cosworth against a varied field of four-wheel-drive and Formula 2 machinery. The 1995 Scottish International Rally once again reinforced its reputation as one of Britain’s premier forest rallies. Its combination of fast, flowing roads, unpredictable Scottish weather and high-quality entry produced another memorable edition of the classic Perth event, with Abrahamsson’s composed drive earning a deserved place in the rally’s history. 00:00 - Intro 00:11 - START 1994 Entry List https://ewrc-results.com/event/7031-p...
