VESPER Trial: A Recurrent UTI Prevention Clinical Trial, with Professor Chris Harding
Would you join a clinical trial for recurrent urinary tract infection prevention? In order to address the gaps in recurrent UTI prevention research, the VESPER trial is comparing two treatments administered directly into the bladder (intravesical treatment) to prevent UTI, against the current recommended treatment approach. In this interview, Professor Chris Harding shares more information about the trial and how to join, including answering the following: 👉 What are the three treatments that the trial will compare? 👉 How are treatments delivered directly to the bladder? 👉 What is the GAG layer and how is it connected to recurrent UTI? 👉 How safe is it to instill antibiotics into the bladder? 👉 Who is eligible to participate in the clinical trial? 👉 Do candidates need to have symptoms of a UTI at the time of joining the trial? 👉 How can someone join the trial? 👉 Is participation free of charge? 👉 Can participants take any other over-the-counter UTI preventatives while participating in the trial?
