Toy Bizarre (C64 C64emu 60Hz no commentary)

This is gameplay from the platform game Toy Bizarre, another great Activision title. This one is programmed by Mark Turmell, and was released on the C64 in 1984. There is also a port to the ZX Spectrum, released in 1985. This is one of my favourite platform games on the old bread-bin. 00:00 Turned On 00:38 Cracker Intro 00:58 Title Screen 01:08 Game Start 02:08 Monday Hour 2 02:46 Safety Check 03:15 Monday Hour 4 04:08 Monday Hour 5 04:57 Safety Check 05:22 Monday Hour 7 06:17 Monday Hour 8 07:09 Safety Check 07:31 Tuesday Hour 1 08:35 Tuesday Hour 2 09:41 Safety Check 09:58 Tuesday Hour 4 11:07 Tuesday Hour 5 12:13 Safety Check 12:39 Tuesday Hour 7 13:56 Tuesday Hour 8 15:22 Safety Check 15:40 Wednesday Hour 1 16:53 Wednesday Hour 2 18:00 Safety Check 18:11 Wednesday Hour 4 19:45 Wednesday Hour 5 21:06 Safety Check 21:24 Wednesday Hour 7 22:23 Wednesday Hour 8 23:57 Safety Check 24:10 Thursday Hour 1 25:48 Thursday Hour 2 26:36 Safety Check 27:17 Thursday Hour 4 28:41 Thursday Hour 5 29:39 Safety Check 29:55 Thursday Hour 7 31:37 Thursday Hour 8 32:41 Safety Check 33:05 Friday Hour 1 34:00 Friday Hour 2 35:11 Safety Check 35:31 Friday Hour 4 36:42 Friday Hour 5 38:35 Safety Check 38:56 Friday Hour 7 39:33 Game Over 40:07 Title Screen The goal of each level is to capture/eliminate the various coloured jumping toys. (The colour denotes the type of toy, some of which are faster and harder to deal with.) Ideally you should pop their balloon before they have a chance to spawn from it. Otherwise you can either jump over them, or pop the platform they're on to stun them. You can then collide with them to take them out. While you are doing this there is a clockwork toy, Hilda, who you have to avoid at all times. If you pop a platform while she's on it she will be launched off the screen, giving you a few precious seconds of peace before she reappears. From time to time a "coffee break" bonus will appear and, if you collect it, you will invulnerable for a time, all the toys are frozen, and you can collect as many as possible. Much like the power-pill in Pac-Man. On the way out of each level, if you can get all four of the bottom valves closed, you'll get some bonus points. But that's made tricky, because Hilda will open any valves she goes past on the way out too. Every few levels there is a safety check level, occupied only by one or more Hilda's, where you must turn off all the valves to complete the stage. Each Hilda will turn on valves they pass by, so timing becomes trickier as more Hilda's are present. In later safety check's the platforms are invisible too, so remember the layout. The emulator is set as a PAL C64 for this game. Plays a little bit slower than Toy Bizarre on an NTSC C64, which is good for my old-man reactions. (I also happened to play the emulator at 50% speed to ensure a decent game — so if my reactions appear to be a bit hyper, that's why.) :-) This was a previous game, on the VICE emulator, where the emulated C64 was NTSC, so you can see the speed difference. You can also see what it's like without the fancy simulated CRT of the C64emu emulator:    • Toy Bizarre  (C64  VICE  60Hz  no commentary)   Lemon 64 page for Toy Bizarre: (8.19 rating at time of writing) https://www.lemon64.com/game/toy-bizarre Gamebase64 page for Toy Bizarre: https://gb64.com/game.php?id=8063&d=1...
