DCS Gas Grill Ignition Replacement
Replacing the ignition on a DCS 27 Grill. Remove the insides from the grill (cooking grates, radiant trays and burners) Unbolt the collector box from the front of the firebox. Remove the control knobs. You will need to access the back of the control panel to get to the spark generator. Remove the the two screws on the left and right side of the control panel. Rest the control panel on the drip tray. Pull the electrode wire (or clip it) from the spark generator. Pull the collector box out of the grill. Place the new electrode in the collector box by twisting it until it is firmly in place. Feed the electrode wire through the firebox and pull. Seat the collector box at the front of the firebox and secure with a screw. Remove the spark generator by unbolting the bracket from the control panel. Remove the ignition switch wires and remove the spark generator from the bracket. Place a new battery in the spark generator and rebolt to the bracket and control panel. Insert the electrode wires to test the spark generator. If you hear a clicking, your igniter switch is working. If not, you will need to remove the igniter switch (part 212336) by using pliers to squeeze and push out. Insert a new igniter switch from the front of the control panel until it is firmly seated. Reconnect the igniter switch wires to the spark generator and to the switch and test the ignition. If you hear a rapid clicking and see a spark coming from the electrodes, you can put the grill back together. Wrap the electrode wires and secure with a zip tie around the manifold. Connect the electrode wires to the spark generator. When the control panel is open, it’s a good time to remove the orifice and clear the hole. As a clogged hole can cause lighting issues. Use pipe dope to reseal the orifice. After both sides are completed, Close the control panel and rebolt. With the guts of the grill removed, vacuum out any debris in the firebox. Before reinstalling your burners, clear the holes with a drill bit. Tip the burner upside down and shake out any debris in the burner. Repeat until all debris is out.
