Phil Coulter Love Thee Dearest

Here's another video of Phil, taken from his 1995 concert at the Belfast Grand Opera house. Here he's playing his own variation on Thomas Moore's poem 'Love Thee Dearest'. As I said it was written by Irish poet Thomas Moore. It tells of a young man's presumable response to his beloved's question of whether he loves her and if he will leave her. Lyrics; Love thee, dearest? Love thee? Yes, by yonder star I swear, Which through tears above thee Shines so sadly fair; Though often dim With tears, like him And - love thee, dearest? Love thee Yes, till death I'm thine. Leave thee, dearest? Leave thee? No, that star is not more true; When my vows deceive thee, He will wander too. Adored of night My veil his light And death shall darken mine But - leave thee, dearest? Leave thee? No, till Death I'm thine. Für meine Freundin Sarah.
