OpenStudio Building Energy Analysis Tool | V02 - SketchUp Plugin Tutorial 01 | EnergyPlus Simulation
This is my new OpenStudio SketchUp tutorial and training, its an opensource building energy analysis tool based on EnergyPlus building simulation tool software developed by NREL. I am launching a series of OpenStudio training sessions here on youtube so please follow rest of my videos. This is the first video of this OpenStudio SketchUp tutorial. Welcome to our comprehensive guide on OpenStudio®, a cross-platform collection of software tools designed to support whole building energy modeling using EnergyPlus and advanced daylight analysis using Radiance. As an open source project, OpenStudio encourages community development, extension, and private sector adoption. In this video series, we will dive deep into the various features of OpenStudio, including the SDK, CLI, graphical applications, and more. #openstudio #EnergyPlus #BuildingSimulation We'll explore the OpenStudio SDK and its benefits, including a stable, version-controlled interface, space typology abstractions, and language bindings in Ruby, Python, and C#. We'll also take a look at the powerful Command Line Interface (CLI), which allows users to run OpenStudio-based workflows on supported architectures like Linux, Windows, and Mac. Next, we'll discuss the graphical applications, including the OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-in, OpenStudio Application, and the Parametric Analysis Tool. Learn how the SketchUp Plug-in allows users to create geometry for EnergyPlus and how OpenStudio supports import of gbXML and IFC for geometry creation. We'll also cover the OpenStudio Application, ResultsViewer, and the Parametric Analysis Tool, which help users create and analyze models with ease. Discover the power of OpenStudio Measure, a scripting facility that uses Ruby and Python to automate model queries and transformations, extend the platform, and create custom reports. We'll also explore the Building Component Library (BCL), an open online database of OpenStudio-related content. We'll delve into OpenStudio Standards, a collection of Measures and resources that automate the construction of prototype building models and facilitate compliance with ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Appendix G “Performance Rating Method.” Finally, we'll discuss OpenStudio Server and its ability to combine seed models with Measures in a large-scale computing environment, enabling users to conduct large-scale analyses quickly and systematically. Throughout the video, we'll highlight the multiple entry levels for users, including access through C++, Ruby, Python, and C#.
