【トーク】日本舞踊「吾妻流」とはどのような踊りなのか【かずたろう歌舞伎クリエイション】

I, Nakamura Ichitaro, am also a Nihon Buyo dancer of the Azuma School, known as "Azuma Tokuyo." Together with my mother, Azuma Tokuyo, who is also the head of the school, I will be performing a self-produced performance called "Tokuho Tokuyo no Kai." I would like to take this opportunity to broaden my knowledge of the Azuma School, so I'd like to talk about its history, unique features, and my current thoughts as the school's head. I have an important announcement to make today! This might sound a little formal, but m(_ _)m I am pleased to announce that I will be hosting my first "Tokuho Tokuyo no Kai" performance. The year 2020, when the world was thrown into turmoil by the COVID-19 pandemic, was an important year for the Agatsuma School, marking the 23rd anniversary of the death of the founder, the former head of the school, Agatsuma Tokuho. However, due to the difficult circumstances, we decided to cancel the memorial service. Since then, I have been pondering daily for an opportunity to somehow promote the Agatsuma School to the world. Around fall of last year, my mother, the head of the school, Tokuho, and I were talking about how we had to do something, and we decided to hold a recital together. For this first recital, I have selected three pieces that are characteristic of the Agatsuma School and strongly reflect its style! The first piece, "Kusunoki Masashige," will be performed in the form of a simple dance, depicting the sad figure of Kusunoki Masashige, a legendary warlord from the Nanboku-cho period, as he is separated from his children in the war and his brave figure in battle. In the second piece, "Senki Otai," the mother, head of the school, Tokuho, expresses her grief at the loss of her child through dance and kakko. The third piece, "Musume Dojoji," is one of the pieces established by my predecessor as a simple Dojoji. This time, I will be conscious of the "hanso" form of the Azuma-ryu female dance, and hope to deliver a different charm to the onnagata performances I perform as a kabuki actor. Through this determination, I hope to further deepen my understanding of "Nihon Buyo" and "the act of dancing," and carry it into the future. The performance will be on a weekday Thursday at 5pm before the holidays, which may be a difficult time to attend, but it is my first sponsored recital!!
