3 SPEED DOOR! 1991 Saita Hydraulic Elevator & A Full Museum Tour! - OSEBA in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan

Filmed on July 7th, 2025 with ‎⁨‪@PNWElevatorAviation‬ Let the Japan content begin! Japan is a place that I have wanted to visit for MANY MANY years, literally ever since I was in Middle School! Fast forward over 10 YEARS LATER, I have FINALLY made it to Japan, and not only is Japan a beautiful place with beautiful nature, high speed trains, Manga, Anime, souvenir shops with Godzilla toys and incredibly walkable cities, but it is FILLED with MANY amazing, fun & very cool elevators! And I couldn't think of a better way to kick off the Japan content than to do so by riding what is a VERY RARE Kind of Elevator in Japan that just so happens to be located at this REALLY COOL Elevator Museum located just an hour train ride away from Tokyo Station! The building is home to the Shimada Electric Manufacturing Company, which has manufactured elevator buttons used across multiple Japanese Elevator brands for over 30 years, and located within the building is the OSEBA Museum, which features a MASSIVE Wall with working Elevator buttons as well as multiple elevator indicators, call stations and lanterns on display! This place is essentially, more or less the ElevaTOURs Museum of Japan! The elevator here is also a pretty unique one too! Manufactured & Installed by Saita, a local Japanese company, and the only one of which I saw in Japan, this elevator features buttons manufactured by Shimada, which were also used on many 1980s and early 90s Mitsubishi & Toshiba Elevators as well, which I did see several of which with similar buttons on this trip! This however, is the only Saita Elevator I saw though, and this thing also has THREE SPEED DOORS, a MASSIVE Cab (this is the building's only elevator and it doubles as a freight) and a VERY DEEP & BEAUTIFUL Sounding Dry Powered Hydraulic Pump, and this was one of only a SELECT FEW Hydraulic Elevators I saw in all of Japan! And interestingly, even though this elevator has sliding Automatic Doors like a traditional passenger elevator, whenever the elevator is not being used, the door needs to be closed by pushing a button below the call button on the outside. Idk why they have it set up like this, but it's definitely interesting! The elevator was just a small part to coming in here however. The MASSIVE Wall of FUNCTIONING Elevator Buttons from a wide variety of different brands was SUPER SUPER COOL, and the different call stations, lanterns and indicators on display were also pretty cool too and very different from ones you see in the United States. There's also an exhibit dedicated to the manufacturing and testing process for how the elevator buttons at this facility are manufactured, with a little quiz to test your knowledge! The best part of coming in here however was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY Staff who were not only nice enough to show me and Riley the elevator here, but also were willing to take our pictures and wanted to learn all about our hobby and what we were about and the differences in how elevators in United States are compared to elevators in Japan! Naoko, who showed us the elevator was especially super friendly and I got her to subscribe to not only me and Riley's channels, but I also told her about how the whole elevator filming hobby began and I got her to subscribe to ‪@DieselDucy‬ as well! It definitely really makes me happy to know that our hobby is being respected and recognized even on the other side of the planet, and I have to give huge thanks to Naoko and all of the other staff members here for their warm hospitality and being so supportive of elevator photography and elevator enthusiasm! I would DEFINITELY HIGHLY recommend coming here if you're visiting Japan and you like elevators, be sure to tell the staff there that I sent you! Oh, and stay tuned for more Japanese Elevator Content coming soon.......I saw a LOT of cool stuff here and now that I'm back home, I can definitely say I was most definitely spoiled by it! For now though, enjoy my very first elevator from my very first overseas trip in my channel's history, as well as a tour of this super cool museum! Installed in 1991.
