Hiking COMBE MARTIN to ILFRACOMBE on the SW Coast Path National Trail

Join us as we continue our 630 mile hike of the South West Coast Path National Trail in England. In October 2023 we spent a long sunny weekend in Devon, with the aim of completing further stages of this amazing route. In this vlog, we take a misty hike from Combe Martin to Ilfracombe, taking in Hele Bay Beach on route, or as we would like to call it, the Road to Hele! The statue in Ilfracombe - Verity is a stainless steel and bronze statue, located on the pier at the entrance to Ilfracombe harbour. Created by Damien Hirst, the name of the piece refers to Truth and Justice. The statue depicts a pregnant woman holding aloft a sword while carrying the scales of justice and standing on a pile of law books. Half of the sculpture shows the internal anatomy of the pregnant woman, with foetus clearly visible. We plan to complete the entire route over coming months between work and everyday life, plus for logistical reasons, we may complete different stages of the route and fill in the gaps as we go along!
