Milano, Tatarella (ex FI): ”Pronto a scendere in campo col centrodestra alle comunali 2027”

Born in the Baggio neighborhood of Milan in 1983, he was previously a member of Forza Italia and the People of Freedom Party. He was arrested in 2019 in connection with the 'Soup Kitchen' investigation, from which he was fully acquitted in both the first-instance and appeals courts. Now, after a seven-year absence from political activity, he has announced his willingness to run for mayor of Milan for the center-right in the 2027 municipal elections. Until recently, Pietro Tatarella's name was just a rumor, but he himself confirmed it. His announcement, however, he was careful to clarify, is "not a form of revenge" for what happened to him, but simply a "resumption of political activity where he left off, when he was a city councilor on his way to the European Parliament." Under the slogan "We will leave no one behind," the central issues of his platform will be security, housing, and green space. Buoyed by his 2016 result, where he beat out names like Maurizio Lupi and Silvia Sardone, Tatarella is confident he could win if the center-right supported him. The former Forza Italia councilor stated that he has already gained support from the governing majority parties, including Brothers of Italy, the League, and Noi Moderati. He was clear about one thing: as mayor, he wouldn't let the prosecutor's office dictate the rules. This reference, in addition to the trial he faced, is to the candidacy of urban planning prosecutor Tiziana Siciliano as deputy mayor for Milano Libera, a party led by civic rival Massimiliano Lisa. Meanwhile, two names are emerging from the center-left. In the event of a primary, 36-year-old civic representative Tommaso Goisis, an activist with the association "Sai che puoi?" and an expert in public policy who has worked in various institutions, including the City of Milan, would also run. In the absence of primaries, however, the name of Donatella Sciuto, rector of the Polytechnic, could come up: despite having repeatedly denied the rumors circulating, if the polling stations were not there, she could make herself available.
