Dutch Summer Solstice Ultraskate 2013

[Trailer:    • Crappy trailer of the Dutch Summer Solstic...  ] Language: Dutch; subtitles in English. In the summer of 2013, as near to the summer solstice as technically possible, the Dutch Ultraskate took place. Twentynine people joined at the start of the 24 hour longboard skating event, to skate as far as they could in that time. Some were going to have their first experience in being on their longboards nearly non-stop for way longer than their body likes, while others were going to attempt to break personal or even world records. For me personally it would have been the second time to participate, but with an upcoming longboard trek in Sweden I decided to just film this event. This movie is my attempt at making a documentary, in which I hope to give some insight in the exhausting physical torture, the mental drag of endlessly going on and on, and the overwhelming euphoric emotional power of "we're all in this together and we're doing it!" that came with this Ultraskate. Some people didn't skate for the full 24 hours, but on the other hand there definitely were records set. And after the six months it took me to edit and produce this movie, the spirit among the attendants still feels as strong as it was during the actual event. I hope you will enjoy watching this movie, hopefully will get inspired, maybe learn something, and who knows we'll meet at a future Ultraskate. Go skate!
