The SS Lurline, launched July 18, 1932, became synonymous with vacations to Hawaii in the 1930s and 1950s. Along with her sisters, the SS Malolo, SS Monterey, and SS Mariposa, Lurline helped reinforce Matson Line’s dominance over the Pacific passenger trade. In 1963, the Lurline was sold to the Chandris Line and renamed the RHMS Ellinis, where she served another decade delighting passengers.
