Clinical and Research Use of BrainAge | MRI in Clinical Research #5

In this lecture, Dr. Lonneke Bos explains the clinical and research applications of BrainAge and Brain Predicted Age Difference (brain-PAD), focusing heavily on how multiple sclerosis (MS) and other diseases accelerate neurodegenerative aging beyond normal chronological expectations. It also highlights significant methodological challenges, particularly the ways model selection and MRI scanner variability can drastically alter a single patient's predicted brain age, rendering it currently unreliable as a standalone diagnostic tool without further standardization. This video was created as part of the European Union-funded TACTIX project, with grant agreement no. 101159624, and recorded during the TACTIX Winter Workshop 2026 at AUMC in Amsterdam.
