Hello everyone, in this video I take a drone flight in the city of Cananéia, which is located in the state of São Paulo. Here, it is considered by many historians to be the oldest settlement in Brazil, being founded in 1531 by Martim Afonso de Souza. The region's economic development began in the city's first village, São João Batista, from where the first expedition of bandeirantes left in search of gold and precious stones in the Ribeira Valley, in the interior of São Paulo. The location served as a strategic point for Spanish and Portuguese navigators to refuel and repair their vessels. The city had the most important port in São Paulo, with shipyards and a naval industry. The threat of attacks by pirates and Indians led residents to build the São João Batista church with strong defense gates. In the square, there is a landmark of the old pillory and three cannons from the Trincheiras fort in Ilha Comprida. In addition, the city has restored 17th century mansions and a municipal museum with fishing artifacts and an impressive 2,500 kg, 5.5 meter long great white shark, caught in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to showing the landscape of the region, I also take the opportunity to show the old Hotel Glória, which is now abandoned, and a high view of the city where it is possible to see Morro São João Batista and, finally, I follow the ferry that was crossing to the Boqueirão South of Ilha Comprida.
