Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC) is a rare, genetic, and progressive neurodegenerative disorder. It is one of a group of disorders called lysosomal storage diseases, which are characterized by the accumulation of lipids (fats) in various organs and tissues of the body. It is a fatal condition that has no cure. There are treatments available that can help manage some of the symptoms and improve the quality of life for affected individuals.
