Trump welcomes Netanyahu, Zelenskyy as unpopular Iran war reaches 5 months

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday is the first since the two leaders launched a joint war against Iran and a chance for Netanyahu to smooth out strains in their relationship. The two leaders also plan to discuss the framework agreement the U.S. and Israel signed with Lebanon over the Israel-Hezbollah war and the expansion of the Abraham Accords, according to a White House official. Trump is also meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday ahead of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s funeral, which is their second sit-down this month. The war, which Trump initially said would last five weeks, has now reached five months. Gas prices have jumped from less than $3 per gallon to more than $4 per gallon with the Strait of Hormuz shut down. A new poll shows 24% of Americans give Trump's economy a positive review, with 60% saying his policies have made things worse. As midterm elections approach in November, Republicans are getting worried the unpopular war will hurt them.
