Roxy Music Both Ends Burning HQ with Lyrics in Description
Track 7 from their fifth album “Siren” released in 1975 copyright Atco Records. It was recorded at AIR Studios in London, where the band was formed in 1970. Their first few albums consisted of experimental, almost avant-garde material that would later influence the punk and electronic music styles that came later. This was mainly due to Brian Eno’s unique style and the new and creative ideas that he incorporated as their keyboard player during that time. He left the band before this album was recorded, likely due to creative differences with leader, lead vocalist and main songwriter Bryan Ferry. Ferry was often compared to David Bowie for his vocal style and fashion sense and was obviously very influenced by him because as we all know, Bowie was the man. The band was much more popular in the U.K. and Europe with a devoted fanbase there but they had several worldwide hits that charted well everywhere. The album received nothing but excellent reviews and is considered by some critics to be the band’s masterpiece or at least their first, considering how great “Avalon” is. Chris Thomas’ production is impeccable and was instrumental in the album’s success. As a youngster, he was lucky enough to work with the great George Martin at Abbey Road Studios. He was in charge of mixing Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and was a large part of making it the magnificent album it is. Supermodel Jerry Hall, who was Bryan Ferry's girlfriend at the time, is featured on the album cover in one of the first jobs of her career. Written by Bryan Ferry and produced by Chris Thomas. RIP John Gustafson. Featuring: Bryan Ferry – Lead vocals, keyboards & harmonica Phil Manzanera – Lead & rhythm guitars Eddie Jobson – Violin & synthesizers Andy Mackay – Oboe & sax John Gustafson – Bass Paul Thompson – Drums Please don't ever let me down For you know I'm not so sure Do I have the speed to carry on? I burn you out of my mind, I know You're a flame that never fades Jungle red's a deadly shade Both ends burning, will the fires keep? Somewhere deep in my soul tonight Both ends burning Burning, burn Both ends burning Burning, burn Now my course is plain as day Running bold, a world to play Both ends burning with a strange desire That feeds the fire in my soul tonight I will dance the night away Living only for today Both ends burning while you're counting sheep Hell, who can sleep in this heat this night? Both ends burning Burning, burn Both ends burning Burning, burn Tell me will I ever learn? It's too late, the rush is on Both ends burning and I can't control The fires raging in my soul tonight Oh, will it never end? Put your foot around the bend Drive me crazy to an early grave Tell me what is there to save tonight? Both ends burning Burning, burn Keep on burning till the end Until the end Both ends burning till the end Until the end Keep on burning till the end Until the end Both ends burning till the end The very end
