Photographing Irish Travellers: A Community That Isn’t Mine
I spent the day photographing Irish Travellers and thinking about what it means to document a community that isn’t mine. At first, I felt unsure. As a documentary photographer, I didn’t want to just arrive, take images, and leave. But after spending time there, talking, listening, and slowly feeling closer again, I was reminded that documentary photography is not only about access. It is about time, trust, and respect. This video is a small reflection on documentary photography, photographing people, building relationships, and why spending time with a community matters when trying to tell a story with care.
