James Cook University has several campuses and in this unbiased university review, we'll take a look around the main campus in Townsville. Wow! The campus has really changed (in a good way!) since the first time I visited almost 15 years ago! It's looking awesome! The university has many strengths, especially in anything to do with the tropics. JCU is one of those universities that many students might overlook because it's not one of the "famous" Australian universities. But that's a mistake because the university rank well in many areas and has does world-class research and teaching in various disciplines. I'd also rank it as one of the best "located" universities if you want to do some travelling around Australia - it's in the heart of one of the top tourist parts of Australia (think: Great Barrier Reef, outdoor adventure activities, Whitsundays and more).
