Price: approx. €50.00 HUNTER 8.6/10 Very well-rounded, multifaceted expert game Simple basic mechanism despite complexity Very good development and economic game Few surprises If you don't try out new strategies yourself, you'll eventually get bored CRON 7.7/10 Worker displacement mechanism is particularly pleasing Complex and extensive, but without creating a knot in your head ;) Many options, yet not overloaded Instructions could be a bit more precise in some points Theme barely noticeable during the game Overthinkers drag out the game You can support us permanently on Patreon. ▶Patreon:   / hunterundcron   HOW WE DESCRIBE THE GAME: NIPPON is a complex economic game for frequent players that takes us back to the era of industrialization in the Japanese Empire. While the theme is fascinating, the mechanics are more in the foreground. The story itself is only vaguely felt during the game. However, the mechanics mesh well and are enjoyable. The focus is on a "worker displacement" mechanism: In Nippon, workers are not placed on action spaces to perform actions, but rather removed from them. On your turn, you take a worker (available in six different colors) from one of the action spaces and perform the corresponding action. With one exception, you have a choice of two different actions on each action space. The removed worker is then placed on your own board. The more we accumulate, the higher the special bonus we receive later in the form of multiplier tiles, which we can place on specific success spaces on our board – thus increasing the corresponding success bonus at the end of the game. This is where our heads start to spin a little. Back to the basics: Up to 6 workers can fit on the board before we have to "consolidate" (a special form of ending our own round) to make room again. The special highlight here are the worker colors: For each worker color on our board, we have to pay 3,000 yen when "consolidating." Per color, mind you, not per worker. So, anyone who manages to plan their actions so that they only have workers of the same color on their board practically gets out of the round for free – whereas a player who has four different worker colors on their board when "consolidating" will have to dig deep into their pockets, paying 12,000 yen. A considerable – and in the long run, decisive – difference. As soon as a row of workers on one of the spaces has been completely cleared and can no longer be replenished, a round ends. The worker spaces are filled with new workers – and a new round begins. There are a total of three scoring rounds in NIPPON, then the game ends after approximately 5.5 rounds, and the player with the most victory points wins. ▶Link to the game rules: http://www.whatsyourgame.eu/downloads...
