HIV in the Philippines: Getting the Country Back on Track
The Philippines has one of the fastest-growing HIV epidemics in the world and the fastest in Asia and the Pacific. From 2010-2020, new HIV infections increased by 237%, concentrating among key populations, particularly young men who have sex with men and transgender women. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the country has fallen behind in ensuring the continuity and provision of HIV services. To bring the country back on track, a multisectoral approach is needed that places key populations and civil society at the centre of the HIV response.
