Cambridge South Station is now Open!

Cambridge South station officially opened on 28 June, with the first train arriving at 6:35 a.m., providing direct rail access to Europe’s largest biomedical campus. Built with a £250 million government investment, the station is expected to serve around 1.8 million passengers annually and improve connectivity to destinations including London, Birmingham, Stansted Airport, Gatwick Airport, and London St Pancras International. The new station reduces travel time from London to just 45 minutes, supporting nearly 40,000 daily visitors to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus while promoting economic growth, employment opportunities, and the UK’s medical research ambitions. It also supports sustainable travel through extensive cycling facilities, step-free access, links to the guided busway, and reduced reliance on cars. Equipped with modern passenger amenities, the station is served by Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink, and CrossCountry services, with capacity for future East West Rail connections.
