Floods and Landslides Batter Keyi Panyor; Search On for Four Missing Persons

#Yazali II Rescue and restoration efforts continued in flood-hit Keyi Panyor district as authorities recovered the body of Nirmala Gupta, reducing the number of missing persons from five to four, while the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed an inflatable rescue boat and three SDRF divers to support ongoing operations. Search efforts are continuing for Elesh Marak (13), Balari Marak (30), Tao Anjina (46) and Sourav Kumar. Eight major road blockages have been reported between Potin and Possa, rendering key stretches impassable due to landslides, flooding and road washouts. Additional SDRF and police personnel have been deployed, and heavy machinery mobilised for road restoration, though normal vehicular movement is expected to take another three to four days to resume. A critically ill patient was evacuated from Ziro by helicopter, while the mortal remains of Nirmala Gupta were transported from Pitapool Ground by the IAF. Meanwhile, MLA Toko Tatung and Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta reviewed the ongoing rescue, relief and restoration operations as authorities worked to restore connectivity and essential services in the affected areas.
