As the municipal elections approach, Nice has become the scene of a "gutter campaign" between Christian Estrosi and Éric Ciotti. Once friends, the two rivals are now locked in a bitter battle for the Nice mayoralty, with numerous offensive remarks, to the point that the prefect has called for calm between the two candidates' teams. Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice and vice-president of Horizons, was a guest on the morning show "Bonjour chez vous!" to address the situation: "This campaign is highly undignified on the part of Éric Ciotti, who is editing videos and, during this period of New Year's greetings, is trying to pass off humor as attacks. This is a time when we need to run a positive, dynamic campaign. It's time to get back to the issues. I have three terms of experience; Éric Ciotti's team has none." Christian Estrosi also warned about Trump's threats to raise tariffs on wine: "This is outright blackmail. Given that I'm in one of the top wine-producing regions exporting to the United States, a 200% tariff would completely cripple our economy if we didn't give in to his pressure on Greenland.
