【滋賀　旧竹林院】苔庭と書院が美しい初夏の静寂散歩

I walked through the former Chikurin-in Temple in Sakamoto, Otsu City, during the season of fresh greenery in May. This was one of the "village temples" established by monks of Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei after their retirement. The group of village temples in Sakamoto has played an important role as a religious and political center formed at the foot of Enryaku-ji Temple since the Middle Ages. The moss garden and study hall quietly bear witness to the history of the monks who lived a peaceful daily life, different from that on the mountain. Please enjoy the garden scenery bathed in the light of early summer.
