In this review, Emily Agar gets to grips with the just updated 2023 Volvo XC90 T8 PHEV - a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV model that you might have seen advertised on billboards around the place, with the tag line "All(most) electric". That's a good indicator of what this seven-seater family SUV is all about - it has a new bigger battery and can run on electric power alone, or you can use it in combination with the turbo-petrol engine, or just use the fuel engine to charge the batteries. It's a smart SUV, and has mind-blowingly good real-world fuel economy.
