New EV scrappage scheme 'really positive step in the right direction' | RTÉ News
People with cars 13 year or older will soon be able to avail of a new pilot scrappage scheme. From July, owners of petrol and diesel cars will get up to €5,000 for scrapping their old model - and an additional €3,500 towards the purchase price of a new electric vehicle. Clare O'Connor, Programme Coordinator with Friends of the Earth, told Morning Ireland they would like to see the scheme extended to second-hand cars.
