1919 - Paris'te Yalnız Bir Kürt: Şerif Paşa - Mini Belgesel

On March 22, 1951, in Catanzaro, Italy, Kürt Şerif Pasha passed away, heartbroken for his beloved Kurdistan and the Kurds. This incorrigible Kurdish nationalist, after the bitterness he experienced in 1919, was too proud to return to his homeland and never met with Kurds again. Şerif Pasha was the son of Xendanizade Kürt Said, the head of the Ottoman Council of State. He graduated from Galatasaray High School with honors and studied at the Saint Cyr Military Academy in France before entering the palace as an aide. He rapidly advanced in his career as a military attaché in Brussels and Paris. Later, having become a leading figure in the opposition to the sultan, he was appointed ambassador to Stockholm, a position he held until 1908, to be removed from Istanbul. After establishing relations with the Committee of Union and Progress, he was appointed ambassador to Madrid, but he resigned from this post. After a forced stay in Paris and Monte Carlo, he came to Istanbul with the declaration of the Constitutional Monarchy. He resigned after the Unionists began to adopt Turkish racism. This time, incurring their wrath, he founded and led a party called Islahat-ı Esasiye to fight back. Şerif Pasha, a founder of the Kurdish Mutual Aid and Progress Society, insisted on recognizing the national Kurdish cause and pursued nationalist policies. From 1908 onward, he played an active role in Kurdish affairs. He was one of the few politicians who recognized this as the Ottoman Empire was in its final stages.
