34067 Tangmere on The Great Britain XVIII Day 3!

In this video we capture 34067 Tangmere on The Great Britain XVIII Day 3 seen at Chinley & Barnsley 20th April 2026. After it's failure hauling The Edinburgh Flyer from York to Edinburgh on where she would detach from the tour in Newcastle on 4th April 2026, a few weeks later Tangmere would return to haul day 3 of The Great Britain XVIII from Chester to Carlisle via Sheffield, certainly letting the spam can stretch its legs somewhat! We start the video at Chinley where 34067 sort of appears to be struggling up the 1 in 89 gradient of Chinley Bank needing assistance to get back up to speed by Class 47 47812 on the rear. This was a close call as I wanted to chase her to Barnsley, there was only a 6 min gap between the tour and my train back to Sheffield... with Tangmere being late and thankfully being let in front of my train this shot was JUST possible because if it was the other way around... there would've been no Chinley shot so thank goodness for that 😅😂 With Tangmere also holding my train to Sheffield up, it sadly meant I had no time to get some still shots of her in Sheffield having wanted to get to Barnsley as soon as I could. We then move onto the 2nd and final shot at Barnsley on the 1 in 152 gradient, where the tour would slow down for the 30 mph speed limit, going up to 35 mph just north of the station. We see the Bulleid working hard and putting on a good show with no diesel assistance from the 47. A great way to end off a nice spring morning capturing the Battle of Britain in what I believe to be her first time running through the Hope Valley, Sheffield & Barnsley... if someone knows anything different let us know in the comment below! I also believe she is the first steam loco to pass through Barnsley since 60163 Tornado on The Mad Hatter in May 2019! And it was certainly a surprise to me to be filming Tangmere too as I thought it was going to be Black Five No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier until the night before! 😂 Please like, comment & subscribe for more videos - Enjoy!
