CSX P001-26 heading through Lake City with CSX America 250 units leading with a friendly engineer

On Wednesday I found out on a messenger railfan group that the brand new CSX America 250 anniversary units were going to lead the CSX OCS out of Waycross to Washington DC for a July 4th event . With the two new CSX America 250 units coming out to service for the first time this was a great opportunity for me to finally catch the CSX OCS train since I had been hunting for it since missing it head through Columbia four or five years ago . At 3:00 pm I hopped into my truck and drove all the way to Lake City to catch the train and when I finally found a good spot I pulled over and sat in my truck even though it was pouring rain and thunderstorming outside . During the wait I was able to catch CSX I138 and M409 which had friendly crews give me a horn salute . After catching those trains I went back into my truck and sat on my phone waiting for updates when I saw on the palmetto rails Facebook page that CSX P001 cleared kingstree and was getting close to my location . I got out of my truck and stood in front of it waiting and after a little wait I heard CSX 250’s horn in the distance so I got my phone out to film and while I was filming I started waving at the train with the engineer giving me four short blasts of the horn as P001 thundered through lake city towards Florence on its journey to the nations capital of Washington DC. It was a great catch because not only was I finally able to catch the CSX OCS train that eluded me but I also got the brand new CSX 250 units which will stay in DC for the event while the OCS train returns to waycross on Tuesday June 30th with CSX doing a tremendous job with the units especially the paint scheme . After catching P001 I called it a day and headed home . Enjoy the video and subscribe
