Fabio Molteni was born in Rome on March 5, 1956. He enlisted on September 15, 1974, and was admitted to the 1st Class of the Pegaso III Course at the Air Force Academy. He earned his airplane pilot's license on November 26, 1974. He earned his military pilot's license on the G91T aircraft on September 19, 1979, placing first in the course. Assigned to the 9th All-Weather Interceptor Fighter Group of the 4th Wing in Grosseto, he earned his Combat Ready qualification on the F-104S aircraft in 1980 with the rank of Lieutenant. Promoted to Captain on May 25, 1982, he was assigned to the 97th Squadron of the 9th All-Weather Interceptor Fighter Group as Commander. Assigned to the 536th Squadron of the Experimental Flight Unit, he assumed the role of Commander on May 8, 1983; Promoted to Major on January 1, 1985, he qualified as an experimental test pilot at the USAF Test Pilot School; Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and qualified as a Flight Safety Officer at the NATO school in Frustenfeldbruck (GE) on July 28, 1988, he served first as Flight Safety Officer and then as Operations Office Chief; After attending the Advanced Course at the Air Warfare School, he was assigned to the 9th Group of the 4th Wing as Commander; Transferred to the Air Force General Staff on October 14, 1991, he served as Officer of the 3rd Section, 2nd Office of the 4th Logistics Unit, and on July 6, 1992, he assumed the role of Section Chief; From 1992 to 1996, he was an Air Force Member of the NATO AGARD Aerospace Applications Study Committee. On March 7, 1996, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 2nd Office of the 4th Logistics Department of the Air Force General Staff. On October 15, 1997, he assumed the role of Chief of the Technical Coordination Office of the 4th Department of the Air Force General Staff. Assigned to the 14th Wing, based in Pratica di Mare, he became its Commander on April 21, 1998. On September 15, 2000, he was assigned to the 2nd Division of the Air Force Logistics Command, where he served as Chief of the Integrated Logistics Support Office. In 2001, he attended the Defense Resource Management Institute in Monterey (CA). He was transferred to the 3rd Department of the Air Force General Staff on November 5, 2001, to serve as Chief of the 3rd Operational Support Office. In 2002, he was appointed a member of the Air Transport Safety Committee. Promoted to the rank of Air Brigadier General on January 1, 2004, he was (assigned to the 1st Division of the Logistics Command on June 29, 2004, becoming, a month later, Commander of the Salto di Quirra Joint Forces Range, which reports to it). Transferred to the 4th Special Operations Unit on October 30. 2006 to assume the position of Deputy Chief of Department; From September 2007 to June 2008, he was appointed, by decree of the Ministry of Defense, as a Member of the Defense Industry Area Committee; Assigned to the Air Force Logistics Command, he served as Commander of the 2nd Division from June 11, 2009 to April 10, 2012; He was promoted to the rank of Air Division General on February 2, 2010; Since April 19, 2012, he has been Commander of the 1st Division of the Logistics Command at the Pratica di Mare Flight Test Center.
