1966 NHRA WInternationals - Sunday Eliminations

For Christmas 1965 I received a new Bolex 16mm film camera, the first opportunity I had to use it was on the Pomona Raceway starting line for the 1966 NHRA Winternationals, where I'd been granted a photo/media credential at 13 years of age. These ten minutes of original footage shows off some of the Top Fuel players like event winner Roland Leong, Tony Nancy, The Greek and famed cars like the twin-engined Freight Train. 1966 also gave a showcase to the early transition into nitro funny cars; Jack Chrisman. Gas Ronda, Dave Strickler, Steve Bovan, Preston Honea and Bob Davis in the Jolly Green Giant Impala along with Super Stocker Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins in his '66 Nova. There's Big John Mazmanian and Stone Woods & Cook with a bunch of AA/Gas Supercharged monsters, too.
