The poor dog looked weak, so my friend took her to the vet for a checkup. She was dehydrated, hungry, and didn't have a microchip. After running all the necessary tests, the vet confirmed she was healthy, though it was clear she was older, probably between 7 and 10 years old. The vet also found that she had been spayed years ago. The main problems were ticks, fleas, and matted fur, which had caused some skin irritation underneath. Thankfully, this could be treated with medicated shampoo, brushing, and removing the old fur. The dog was incredibly calm and sweet during the treatment, as if she was used to being cared for. We hadn't seen a dog with such gentle energy in a long time, and we enjoyed every moment with her. We couldn't help but wonder what this dog had been through. If only she could tell us her story, it would surely be fascinating. We started thinking about finding a loving home for her. I even thought about convincing my husband to keep her, but we already have ten dogs, several cats, a parrot, fish, and two kids. I was worried my husband might run away if I brought home another pet! While we were thinking about what to do, we got a call from our vet. They told us a dog just like her had been reported missing five months ago from a town 140 km away. The family had been searching for their dog ever since. We were still in the process of confirming if she was their dog, as they weren't sure if she had run away, been stolen, or gotten lost. Sometimes, older dogs wander off, and it's possible someone tried to help and unknowingly took her even farther away. After a few phone calls and exchanging photos, we decided to visit the family to see if she was really their dog. When we arrived at their home and let her out of the car, the reaction was instant. The kids' faces lit up with joy, and she wagged her tail excitedly. Over coffee, the family showed us old photos and shared stories. It was clear that she had been with them since she was a puppy. Now 9 years old, she had never gone missing before and had always stayed in their yard. They couldn't understand how she had ended up so far away. When she disappeared, they searched everywhere-asking neighbors, contacting vets, and posting online-but there was no sign of her. Somehow, after five long months, she appeared in another town, 140 km from home. The important thing is that she was found alive and healthy and was now back with her loving family. The family was incredibly thankful to us for reuniting them with their dog, and it made us so happy to see them all together again. Sadly, they didn't want to be filmed, so we couldn't show you their smiles or her excitement. However, we agreed to visit them again in the future, and maybe we'll make a short video about this happy reunion. We're so glad we could help this dog and her family.
