How many ounces of breastmilk does my baby need? In this video we'll go over how to calculate it and how to know if baby is getting enough! To get an average of how much pumped milk your baby will need you can count the number of feedings baby usually has every 24 hours, then divide 24 by that number. So if your baby eats 12 times every 24 hours they're probably taking an average of 2 oz every feeding. If your baby eats an average of 8 times every 24 hours, they're probably taking an average of 3 oz a feeding. Keep in mind that it won't always be an exact amount at each feeding, that just gives you an estimate. If your supply is low; -You will see less than 6 wet diapers a day (after 6 days old) -If you’re an exclusive pumper, you’ll be pumping less than 24 ounces every 24 hours. -You’re supplementing with formula or previously pumped milk.
