The result is not bad and is striking, although in the test unit, the finish is somewhat masked by the dark body color. The front end features the brand's new look, with the FIAT name prominently displayed, and headlights that are now full LED and offer better illumination than before. The finishes and fit are adequate, and what's least appealing in this regard is the feel and appearance of some of the plastics, such as those on the door panels. However, overall, this Fiat Tipo has better materials, finishes, and fit than a Dacia Sandero Stepway, which is clearly its most direct rival. Mechanically, this car's weak point is its gearbox, which only has 5 speeds. It's strange that Fiat was the first brand to incorporate a 6-speed gearbox in a mainstream model with the first generation of the Fiat Punto more than 20 years ago, and instead settles for a 5-speed in this Fiat Tipo, whose engine cries out for a sixth gear to allow for better gear shifting.
