After officially opening the chub fishing season on the Struma River, I decided to visit the section between the barrages near Blagoevgrad. Later on, another fellow angler joined me, and we scouted the barrages together, but there were active fish in only two spots: the confluence where the Blagoevgradska Bistritsa flows into the Struma, and the area near the wastewater treatment plant. The successful lures were the CC38 in the "Cockchafer" (May beetle) color and the silver variant of the WildFishLures 3.5 gr. inline spinner, which you can find here: https://akulataflyfishing.com/home/33.... This spinner turned out to be highly effective for both chub and perch on the river. The rod featured in the video is the Graphite Cast S682UL, and the reel is the Shimano Stradic 2500 HG FM.
