2005 NLDS Game 4: Braves @ Astros

Atlanta Braves 6 at Houston Astros 7, F/18 -- The 2005 Houston Astros needed just about everyone on their 40-man roster to land their Wild Card berth, so it is also fitting that the heroics came from a melting pot of Astros players. The Braves were ahead 6-1 in the eighth, when Lance Berkman launched a grand slam, followed by a game-tying solo shot by Brad Ausmus in the 9th. The second half of the game included three innings of relief by Roger Clemens, appearing as a pinch-hitter in the 15th, and pitching in relief for only the second time in his career (and appearing this time only because the Astros were out of pitchers). The collective efforts in this epic drama will be remembered for many things, the least of which is the fact that it was the longest postseason game in Major League history. It is also the only postseason game to include two grand slams, Berkman's and Adam LaRoche's. Even more remarkable than that, perhaps, is the fact that the fan who caught Chris Burke's game-winning walk-off homer in the 18th was, in fact, the same fan who had caught Berkman's grand slam in the eighth; the fan later donated both balls to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
