He graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1977, immediately began his psychiatry residency, and became a specialist in 1982. In 1983, he served as Chief Assistant, Clinical Chief, and Chief Physician at Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital from 1994 to 2003. He retired in 2004, received the title of Professor in 2005, and served as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine from 2005 to 2011. He currently practices as a private physician in his clinic in Şişhane, Istanbul.
