The commemoration, held with deep sorrow and devotion, coincided with the anniversary of Imam Ali’s martyrdom. The procession commenced from the Isna Asharia Campus Kargil after the midday prayers and passed through the Main Bazaar Kargil, Isna Asharia Chowk, and Khomeni Chowk, where it was joined by additional processions from Pashkum, Poyen, Baroo, Sodh, Minjee, Kargil town, Hardass, and other adjoining areas. The solemn march concluded at Inqilab Manzil (Qatilghae Hussaini). Participants, with tear-soaked eyes and heavy hearts, paid homage to Imam Ali’s sacrifice by beating their chests and reciting lamentations. The mourners reflected on the greatest martyrdom in Islamic history—Imam Ali, who was struck with a poisonous sword by Ibn Muljam while in prayer at the Grand Mosque of Kufa in 40 AH (661 AD). He succumbed to his injuries two days later, leaving behind a legacy of justice, wisdom, and unwavering faith. The main sermon of the event was delivered by Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslimeen Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi, President of JUIAK Ladakh. Speaking to the congregation, Sheikh Nazir highlighted the profound legacy of Imam Ali as a beacon of justice, courage, and leadership. He urged people, particularly those in positions of power, to adopt Imam Ali’s principles of governance, equality, and service to humanity. Sheikh Nazir also strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks on minorities in Syria by the Julani led extremists, he also deplored the US Zionist attacks on Yemen and Palestine. He strongly condemn the ongoing human rights violations against the Shia community in Parachinar, Pakistan, by Takfiri terrorists. He called upon the global Muslim community to unite against Genocide and terrorism and uphold the true values of Islam. Imam Ali (a.s), revered as the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is highly respected for his wisdom, bravery, and deep loyalty to Islam. His martyrdom holds immense religious significance, occurring during the sacred period of Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Destiny). Laylat al-Qadr is believed to be the night when the first verses of the Holy Qur’an were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is regarded as a night of divine mercy, forgiveness, and blessings, during which God decrees the fate of individuals for the coming year. To mark the occasion, a special night of prayers and Qur’an recitation was organized at Isna Asharia Campus Kargil, where large numbers of scholars, religious leaders, and community members gathered for night-long vigils. The faithful engaged in dua (supplication), Quranic recitation, and prayers, seeking divine guidance and forgiveness. Scholars reflected on Imam Ali’s emphasis on justice, compassion, and service to humanity, drawing parallels to modern-day challenges and the need for ethical leadership. Speakers emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony and peace, urging people to uphold Imam Ali’s values in their daily lives. The event concluded with a collective prayer for peace, justice, and the upliftment of the oppressed worldwide, echoing Imam Ali’s lifelong mission of protecting the weak and standing against tyranny.
