This is then called a Shepard Scale. The Endless Stairs in Super Mario 64 is a really good example of this, and we take a look at how the endless stairs music uses the shepard tone illusion plus some other compositional tricks to parallel the fact that Mario is going up the stairs forever. There is also the Shepard-Risset Glissando, which as the name suggests uses a smooth glissando rather than discrete notes to modulate the pitch, which opens the door to all kinds of sounds being used as the basis for the illusion, most notably for things like risers. ------------------------------------------------------------------ šŸ—£ļø FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Instagram: Ā Ā /Ā arbitersofsoundĀ Ā  TikTok: Ā Ā /Ā arbitersofsoundĀ Ā  Twitter: Ā Ā /Ā arbitersofsoundĀ Ā  Facebook: Ā Ā /Ā arbitersofsoundĀ Ā  šŸŽ§ CHECK OUT OUR CONNECT THE SONGS GAME PODCAST Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/141cTJs...
