Congressional Briefing on Nigeria - Why Nigeria Matters to the United States

The Nigerian Center, in partnership with a national coalition of Nigerian American organizations, convened a Congressional Briefing titled “Why Nigeria Matters: Security, Economy, and Diaspora Priorities for U.S. Policy” at the U.S. Capitol on March 26, 2026. The nonpartisan briefing brought together Members of Congress, congressional staff, policy stakeholders, and leaders from the Nigerian American community to engage in a timely and forward-looking discussion on Nigeria’s strategic importance to the United States. Conversations focused on regional security cooperation, trade and economic engagement, democratic governance, and the growing influence of the Nigerian American diaspora.
